Here If You Need Me-Book Review and Book Group Discussion Event-March 20

1077938.jpgFor me, there are few things more refreshing than a well-written book, touching on the important issues of life, done with a sense of humor. Kate Braestrup’s book, HERE WHEN YOU NEED ME, is just such a book. She tells of her life turned upside down by the accidental death of her State Police husband, as it takes new turns leading her to become a chaplain for the Maine Warden Service. Her encounters with the sorrow and hope encompassed in her work, with her four children who grapple with the death of their father (and with growing up), and with her colleagues struggling with the demands of their work, reflect maturity and pragmatic faith in God. I especially delighted in her ability to see God at work in the most mundane and often most excruciating circumstances of her life. A very hopeful lesson for me to learn. ~ by Kay
